Hermès hits the open road with a pair of boots that promises plenty of mileage.
Often, there’s a preconceived notion of the woman who buys Hermès—a cool, elegant creature, appreciates clean lines, has tea at three in the afternoon. Perhaps it’s in her aim of subverting this singular-faceted concept of the classic Hermès shopper that drives Nadège Vanhee’s fall/winter 2024 collection for the French Maison. Always one to look to Hermès’ equestrian roots, Vanhee drew the parallels between the horse rider and the bike rider this season, and in doing so, redefined biker couture. Grunge, leather jackets gave way to sleek, fitted outerwear, and studs were neatly lined up to balance punk and elegance. Boots, the go-to, makes sense, considering they’re worn by both biker and horseback riders—and it’s here that we find these polished riding stompers. Reaching up to the knee with a silver buckle, they feature finely spliced cut-outs that mirror the famed stairways in the brand’s Faubourg boutique. It’s at once cool—just think of all the skinny jeans you can tuck into them—but with an element of chicness that speaks to a multi-generational customer all at the same time. The Jumping Boot is priced at $4,350 and is available at Hermès, #01-02A Liat Towers (tel: 6738 9807).
